More than a million parents and children across the country, including those at the Keilor Library, took part in this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime by reading the picture story book, ‘Family Tree’ by Josh Pyke.
About 20 people, including parents, sons and daughters attended the event at the Keilor Library this year.
The event is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association with a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places every year.
This year marked the 22nd year of the event which aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
