Sydenham MP Natalie Hutchins has been named as state education minister following the resignation of former education minister James Merlino.
Ms Hutchins will also be minister for women.
It is expected she will be sworn into the new portfolios on Monday.
Ms Hutchins is currently Crime Prevention Minister, Corrections Minister, Youth Justice Minister and Victim Support Minister.
