Among the normal grey and white buildings in Brimbank there are a number of bright and colourful murals that continue to pop up.
More than 20 murals now adorn walls across the municipality.
Brimbank mayor Ranka Rasic said the council was committed to providing a more colourful and vibrant Brimbank through public art projects.
“Brimbank is home to dozens of new artworks thanks to our artists in residence program, Land MARKS 2020-21, adding to the many murals and pieces of public art already in our city,” she said.
“The Land MARKS artists were engaged by council and funded through the state government’s working for Victoria initiative. Their work has improved local streetscapes, amenity and built creative industry resilience as the community starts to recover and rebuild from the impacts of the pandemic.
“The aim is to help breathe new life into our community hubs, and surprise and refresh us as we move through the phases of COVID-19.”
One of the newest murals, on a multi-deck carpark in Sunshine, was completed in June by Adnate.
“The mural illustrates four faces including a Wurundjeri girl (at the top), a young African woman, an Eastern European elderly man, and a young Vietnamese boy,” Cr Rasic said.
“Adnate’s mural is one of a broader series of works across Brimbank called Faces of Diversity.”
