A group of pyjama-clad motorcyclists is not an everyday sight.
But the idea of doing something “fun and different” for a good cause has inspired the Wyndham chapter of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club to hold a pyjama run to support a family violence response centre.
Participants will gather on Saturday, November 3, at McDonald’s on the Western Ring Road in Sunshine before riding to Channel Seven’s Docklands headquarters and then to a country pub for lunch.
Red Knights Wyndham chapter president, Gerard Green, said the club’s members would donate pyjamas for women and children who stay at a family violence response centre. They are hoping members of the public will donate pyjamas, as well.
Mr Green said the event would help raise money for the family violence response centre through ride fees, auctions and donations.
Fundraising committee member Judy Teuma came up with the idea for the pyjama run and another Red Knights member, Shauna Wilson, helped work with the family violence response centre to make it happen.
The club is made up of riders who have a connection to firefighting, including career, volunteer, retired and military firefighters and their relatives.
The pyjama run will run 8am-5pm on Saturday, November 3, with all motorcyclists welcome. Cost: riders $10, pillions $5.

Donated pyjamas can be dropped off during business hours at the Star Weekly offices, 75 Watton Street, Werribee.
