More accessibility for a day out on the water

Boaters throughout Victoria, including in Brimbank, will find it easier and more accessible to enjoy a day out on the water, with new grants for ramp managers to upgrade boat ramps.

Outdoor Recreation Minister Steve Dimopoulos announced applications are now open for the latest round of the Recreational Boating Access and Dredging Grants, from the Better Boating Fund.

Grants of up to $150,000 will support organisations that manage public boat ramps across Victoria to upgrade existing facilities so that boat ramps are more accessible at a range of tides and plan for future dredging works.

This program is funded through the reinvestment of recreational boating licence fees and vessel registrations back into programs and projects that improve boating for everyone across Victoria.

Mr Dimopoulos said they are encouraging boat ramp managers to apply for a grant to dredge and improve access at their facilities.

“This is another way we’re investing boaters’ licence and registration fees back into their pastime, to make a day on the water in Victoria easier and more enjoyable than ever,” he said.

The grants will be overseen by Better Boating Victoria, which is progressing the state’s biggest ever boat ramp construction program and continuing to ensure launching and parking is free at all of Victoria’s public ramps.

Local and state government departments and agencies, committees of management and local waterway authorities are eligible to apply for the grants.

An eligible organisation may submit multiple applications for consideration.
