The Taylors Lakes Lions Club is offering support for the families and friends of those suffering a mental illness.
The club will hold a dinner on Wednesday, March 28, at which guest presenter Tamara Wilson will offer “first aid” knowledge and strategies to people who care for those affected by mental health issues.
Ms Wilson was one of the founding members of PS My Family Matters, which aims to provide support to family members and carers of those suffering with a mental illness in the Macedon Ranges and Sunbury.
Taylors Lakes Lions Club secretary Phil Clinkaberry said the evening would offer some valuable insights.
“This is really for the parents and family of people suffering from depression and anxiety,” he said.
“A lot of families might not know how to deal with certain issues that arise from these situations and this evening will offer some helpful do’s and don’ts.
“It’s a really common thing to not know how to deal with certain aspects surrounding mental illness.”
The dinner will be held at the Atrium, Taylors Lakes Hotel, from 6.30pm. Tickets are $25.
