Membership costs revealed

The cost of a membership for the new Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre has been revealed.

The council last week confirmed the pricing schedule for the centre along with the Sunshine Leisure Centre for next year.

Memberships will be based on the existing 2021-22 fee schedule adopted for the Sunshine Leisure Centre.

A council report said the decision was seen as fair as members only using SLC are not being penalised financially by the new facility opening.

There will be four different types of membership at the BAWC, learn to swim, aquatics membership, full access and premium.

The cost of a membership will be higher at the BAWC than at the leisure centre.

The cost of membership at the BAWC, which will be in place until the end of next year, will start at $31.40 a fortnight for a learn to swim membership.

The most expensive membership, which will only be at the BAWC, the premium membership will be $77.70 a fortnight for full paying members.

That will increase to $88.65 in 2023.

According to council figures, of facilities in neighbouring municipalities only the Maribyrnong Leisure Centre has lower fees.

The council also voted to end legacy memberships, but have been subsided by the council. Under these memberships, people were paying less than normal membership fees.
