Melton bin changes

Some residents in the Melton municipality will have their bins collected on different days from March 6.

Some households will see changes to when their kerbside red, yellow and green bins are collected, due to population growth.

These changes will affect approximately one in seven homes and there may be changes to the day or week collections for red (landfill), yellow (recycling) and green (food organic, green

organic) occur.

Affected properties should have already received a letter advising of the changes.

Melton mayor Lara Carli said that some bin collection days have become busier than others due to population growth, which is why the waste collection schedule is changing in some areas.

“Council is on track for delivering over 10 million waste collections this year – that’s over 10,000 every day,” she said.

“You can double check which day your bins will be collected and which week your recycling or green waste bin will be collected by visiting Council’s website.”

To help with the transition, affected homes will have all three bins collected during the “changeover week” from March 6 to 10.
