Brimbank carers and people with disabilities are being encouraged to attend the Disability Service Provider and Participant Connection Expo.

Being run by Developing Australian Communities the expo is set to include a wealth of information and opportunities to connect, ask questions and it will also feature fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Activities including balloon artists, face painting, obstacle courses, meet and greets with movie characters as well as a main performance stage.

Figures show despite over 4.3 million Australians living with a disability, more than a quarter (28 per cent) of Australians are not aware of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and what they do.

With almost 130,000 Victorian participants receiving NDIS help – and more than 55,000 people with disabilities accessing the scheme for the first time – it can be a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack to find the right provider to connect with.

The free expo will be on January 18 and 19 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
