Man to face court over St Albans armed robbery

A man will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow in relation to an alleged armed robbery in St Albans last month.

Detectives from the Brimbank criminal investigation unit and Victoria Police’s special operations group arrested a 34-year-old Ashwood man on Friday afternoon in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Detective Acting Sergeant Anna Kirishian said the offender allegedly drew a firearm on a male driver on January 15, and proceeded to steal his car.

“We are committed to identifying those involved, making arrests and taking firearms off the streets,” Detective Acting Sergeant Kirishian said.

The Ashwood man was refused bail and has been remanded in custody until his court appearance.
