A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a ute at an illegal hoon gathering in Derrimut.
The man, who is in his 20s, was hit by a white VE or VZ ute while watching the activities in Australis Drive last night.
Police said a large number of people had gathered at the site and were performing illegal activities in their vehicles prior to the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 10.45pm, following reports of a large gathering.
When they arrived at the scene, the street had been deserted other than the victim and his friends.
Ambulance Victoria said the man had head, back and pelvis injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
