Man dies in factory fire in Derrimut

Police are investigating after a man died in a factory fire in Derrimut this morning.

Emergency services were called to Swann Drive to reports of a chemical explosion, about 9.45am on October 12.

At least 30 people were forced to evacuate the building, while fire crews brought the blaze under control.

A deceased 44-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was later discovered inside the building.

No one else was injured.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Worksafe has been notified and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
