Man dead and passenger injured in St Albans crash

A Braybrook man has died and a Sunshine man is in hospital after a car crash in St Albans this morning.

Police say the driver, 22, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree while travelling north along Sunshine Avenue about 1.50am.

The 22-year-old driver died at the scene.

The only passenger in the car, who was also aged 22, suffered serious chest and leg injuries.

Paramedics worked to stabilise him before he was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.

Police are investigating the crash.
