A man in his 40s from the north western suburbs is in hospital in a critical condition with life threatening leg and facial injuries after being struck by a car in Taylors Hill.

Police are investigating the incident on The Esplanade which occurred around midday following an altercation between several men at 11.45am in Streeton Avenue, Caroline Springs.

It’s believed a second confrontation between the men occurred on The Esplanade following a pursuit between two vehicles.

The man, believed to be suffering serious leg and facial injuries, was found on the road and taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital.

A black Ford Territory, believed to have been involved in the incident was found rolled over on Taylors Road outside Gilson College.

Nobody associated with the vehicle was found at the location.

Police would not confirm if a gun was used.

Inspector Kerin Moloney said the three incidents were drug related.

“We’re exploring the connection to cannabis, there’s no doubt about that,” he said.

“We’re exploring a burglary component.

“I would have some confidence there was some sort of criminal behaviour between the parties involved.”

He said the three incidents occurred over a period of 10 and 15 minutes.

“There were three separate incidents in a short period of time,” he said.

“This is normally a very quiet neighbourhood.

“The three incidents are linked as we normally don’t get these sort of incidents within a short period of time.

“We’re unsure (of the number of people involved), we’re looking at any number of offenders.”

He said there was no reason for the community to be alarmed.
