Man critical after Sunshine stabbing

A stabbing at Sunshine last Thursday afternoon left two women with life threatening injuries and a man in a serious condition in hospital.

The women, aged 37 and 65, and a 34-year-old man underwent surgery for “significant stab wounds” following the incident just before 4pm at a residence in Braim Street.

The 37-year-old was in a stable condition and the 65-year-old in a stable condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital yesterday.

The 34-year-old was at the Alfred hospital in a serious condition.

Another man, 29, was under police guard at the Alfred on Friday. He was treated for minor injuries.

Acting Inspector Cam Reinke said all four people knew each other, although details of the incident were still unclear.

“It’s very worrying for a community,” he said.

Police have interviewed a number of witnesses.

Neighbour Tony Sant told Fairfax Media he believed they had been living in the Braim Street property for about two years.

“They have been doing a lot of renovation,” Mr Sant said.
