Man charged with murder over Deer Park seamstress’s death

A Kingsbury man has been charged with the murder of a Deer Park dressmaker whose body was found inside his home last month.

Police arrested two men on Monday night, a 35-year-old from Kingsbury and a 45-year-old from Coburg, in relation to the death of seamstress The Phong Vuong.

The Kingsbury man was later charged and remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the Coburg man was assisting police with their inquiries.

Mr Vuong, 49, was found inside his Erin Court home on June 26, but police believe he may have been killed as early as June 15.

His body was found by neighbours and a friend after they became concerned that no one was answering his front door. after a visitor alerted neighbours that no one was answering his front door. They

Neighbour Leo Henry told Fairfax Media earlier this month Mr Vuong mostly kept to himself.

Mr Henry said he believed Mr Vuong lived alone and had rented the house for about six years.

“His brother lived with him before he moved to Sydney a little while ago,” he said.

Mr Henry said neighbours had been left reeling by the man’s death.

“I don’t know what’s really happened to him. He was a nice man, a very nice man,” he said.
