Man charged over burglary spree in north-west

Detectives have charged a man following an investigation into a string of commercial burglaries between August 11 and September 18.

A 36-year-old Altona North man was arrested by investigators on October 1 and a search warrant was executed on a premises in Altona North.

Police will allege that the man committed a string of burglaries in Hoppers Crossing, Kingsville, Point Cook, Derrimut, Essendon North, Sunshine West, Footscray, Avondale Heights, Laverton and Deer Park.

Police have laid 44 charges against the man, including 18 counts of burglary, theft-of-motor vehicle, criminal damage and theft and have remanded him to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ court on October 7.

Police claim a stolen vehicle and other various items of stolen property were among the items they seized.

It is alleged the estimated value of property damage and stolen items to exceed $80,000.
