Man charged following Sunshine North fatal assault

Police have charged a man with murder following the fatal assault of a man in Sunshine North on September 30.

Emergency services were called to reports of an altercation between two men on Albert Street around 2.30pm.

A 76-year-old Sunshine North man was conveyed to hospital to be treated for critical injuries, where he later died on Sunday, October 15.

A 47-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested at the scene and charged with numerous assault related charges.

The man remains remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 8, 2024.

Police believe the men were known to each other.
