Man charged over alleged attempted carjacking in Taylors Lakes

A man has been charged following an alleged attempted carjacking in Taylors Lakes.

Police were called to a carpark on the Melton Highway soon after 9.30am.

Investigators were told a man armed with a hand gun had attempted to enter a car.

Police said the man fled to a nearby business. He was arrested a short time later.

An imitation hand gun was allegedly found near the scene.

A 42-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, attempted theft of motor vehicle, unlawful assault, possessing an imitation firearm, possessing a controlled weapon and commiting an indictable offence while on bail.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne magistrates court on Wednesday.
