Make it a December to remember in Brimbank

Brimbank is gearing up for Christmas with a special program of no-charge festive activities to make it ‘A December to Remember’.

Brimbank mayor Bruce Lancashire said: “I’d like to invite community members to join the fun, and delight in the Christmas activities planned for Brimbank in December.

“There’s something for everyone with plenty of no-charge festive activities to enjoy. We’ve had some tough years in the community and we’re looking forward to making this Christmas extra special.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Brimbank community a safe and happy festive season!”.

Throughout the month town centres and shopping strips will be adorned with cheerful decorations, neon lights, Santa Claus, carols, cool selfie opportunities and there will also be plenty of entertainment.

Some upcoming dates to add to your Christmas calendar include:

Thursday, December 1 (3-6.30pm) – Sunshine’s Christmas deLights. Come along to the turning on of the Christmas lights in the Sunshine Library windows (6pm nightly during December) and there’s entertainment at the Civic Green in Hampshire Road.

Friday, December 9 (6.30-10pm) – ‘A December to Remember’ at Keilor Community Hub, Keilor: This evening will have a real European flavour. There will be a stage show with Christmas carols and performances by local community groups, a visit and photo opportunity with Santa, neon installations, craft activities, face painting, market stalls, food and entertainment.

Saturday, December 10 (11am-2pm) – Photos with Santa. If you’re in search of the great bearded man, be sure to get down to the reserve at 63 Alfrieda Street, St Albans Town and have a no-charge instant photo taken with Santa Claus.

Friday, December 16 (6.30-10pm) – ‘A December to Remember’ at Sunvale Community Park, Sunshine: There will be Christmas carols, a movie screening of family-favourite, ‘The Santa Clause’, a visit and photo opportunity with Santa, neon installations, face painting, market stalls, craft activities, food and entertainment.

Saturday, December 17( 6-10pm) – Christmas Carols: St Albans Square is the place to be, just opposite the train station.

Throughout December a host of roving performers will also provide street entertainment at local shopping precincts in Deer Park Village, Glengala Village, Keilor Village and at Sunshine and St Albans town centres.

Enjoy roving performances from ‘Born in a Taxi’, Leunings Christmas, and Three Wise Men.
