Make a difference this festive season

In the spirit of compassion and community, Brimbank residents are being encouraged to make a difference in the lives of those facing challenges this festive season through the 2023 Giving Tree program.

This program, run by Brimbank council is delivered in partnership with local charities, businesses, and community organisations.

The program is actively seeking donations of non-perishable food and essential household items right up until Saturday, December 23.

The suggested items for donation include a range of household staples such as, tinned and dry beans, rice, pulses, peanut butter and other nut butters, sandwich/toast spreads, cereals, rolled oats, canned fruits, canned vegetables, crackers, muesli bars, packet and canned soups, canned tuna in water, vegetable oil, tea, coffee, dishwashing liquid, washing powder, and toilet paper.

Brimbank council said there are many people in the community who are struggling with the cost of living and buying essential food and household items.

The Giving Tree program serves as a practical way for residents to support those in need within the community, with drop off locations spread right throughout Brimbank ready for donation boxes to be filled.

As the festive season approaches, Brimbank council said the program emphasises the importance of collective kindness and looking out for one another.

For those interested in participating and making a positive impact this holiday season, further information about the 2023 Giving Tree program can be found at brimbank.vic.gov.au/christmas2023.
