Machetes seized and teens charged after Caroline Springs incident

Six machetes were seized and six teenagers have been charged following an incident at a Caroline Springs shopping centre earlier this month.

Victoria Police was called to a shopping centre on Lake Street, Caroline Springs, following reports of a group of teenagers – some allegedly armed with machetes – arguing with one another about 6.40pm on June 6.

It is understood the group fled upon police arrival, and no one was injured.

Over two days, police executed a number of search warrants throughout the Brimbank area.

Six machetes were seized during the warrants, and investigators have since charged six teenage boys in relation to the incident.

Two 15-year-old boys from the Brimbank area were both charged with affray, with the pair bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

Another two 15-year-old boys from the Brimbank area were also charged with affray and they were both remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 17-year-old boy from the Brimbank area was charged with affray and possessing a controlled weapon without excuse and was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
