The Brimbank council’s library services are adapting to help the community stay connected.

The council closed all its libraries last month in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, but the home library service has been expanded with the introduction of a ‘to your door’ delivery service for books and resources for all residents.

As part of the service, staff will deliver books, audio resources and DVDs to residents’ homes, while maintaining safe social distancing practices.

Storytime and other library programs are being delivered to participants online.

Brimbank mayor Georgina Papafotiou said it was vital that services continued.

“Libraries change lives – we want to continue offering our much-loved library programming and services to residents as much as possible during the coronavirus crisis,” she said.

“Sometimes there’s no replacing holding a book in your hand or reading a story to your child with others, our members have told us, so we’re offering this by popular demand.”

Other library programs will be delivered online where possible, including resume help, practice your English sessions, after school activity zone games and craft activities.
