The ALP has pledged $5 million towards the redevelopment of the St Albans Leisure Centre if elected.
The Labor candidate for Fraser, Daniel Mulino announced the funding at the centre this afternoon.
“I visited the current centre with Bill Shorten in November 2018 and we both saw first-hand how important this facility is to our community, attracting hundreds of thousands of visits each year,” Mr Mulino said.
“That’s why I’m proud to announce a Shorten Labor government will invest $5 million towards this important project that will provide a world-class home to deliver vital services to our multicultural and growing community.
“I congratulate the City of Brimbank for their leadership and hard work on this project and look forward to … making it a reality.”
The council has previously called on both the state and federal governments for a funding commitment for the $58 million leisure centre redevelopment.
Today’s announcement is the first pledge.
