A 16 year old learner driver has been charged over the death of a pedestrian in Melbourne’s northwest.
Police were called to Taylors Road at Keilor Downs about 5.30am on Tuesday over reports a car had mounted a kerb and struck a pedestrian who was on the footpath.
The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man from Kealba in Melbourne’s northwest, died at the scene.
The allegedly unaccompanied learner driver behind the wheel of the car was hospitalised with serious injuries, and has since been interviewed by police.
The 16-year-old boy from Kings Park in Melbourne’s northwest was charged on Friday with dangerous driving causing death and driving as a learner while unaccompanied.
Police remanded the boy overnight to appear on Friday at a childrens’ court.
