Western suburbs advocacy group LeadWest moved from its Maribyrnong home into new digs at the Brimbank Community and Civic Centre last Tuesday.
It’s the first of five tenants at Sunshine’s new $52 million town centre headquarters.
LeadWest chief executive Craig Rowley said the move meant the organisation would now have a home in the “heart of the region”.
“Our move into Sunshine shows how we see it as a national employment cluster, that it will be a centre for employment growth in our region,” he said.
“It puts us closer to the rail hub (at Sunshine train station), from which we can reach most parts of the region, and still be within 30 minutes of Spring Street.
“We’ll be in a building with better energy and water sustainability. We think working in Sunshine will be excellent.”
LeadWest will set up on level two, with tenancies still to be announced for levels three through to six.
Expressions of interest closed in June.
The council’s new building has also created new job opportunities with two extra full time library staff now onboard.
It’s other new venture, the new $9.3 million multi-deck car park between George and Dawson streets, is also due to open next month, with 113 public parking spaces on the first three levels.
