Lakeview Senior College opens new senior study centre

Lakeview Senior College’s senior students no longer have to seek refuge in Melton council’s library for some peace and quiet.

The Caroline Springs school has opened a new study centre solely for its year 11 and 12 students.

College principal Shayne Rule said the centre would make an “enormous difference” in the lives of the school’s 700-odd VCE and VCAL students.

“We don’t have a school library, we use Melton council’s,” he said. “We wanted something that was solely for our senior students so they could study in peace.”

The double-storey relocatable building has been kitted out with computers, two large screens connected to Apple TV and whiteboards.

The $750,000 centre was officially opened last month, about 18 months after the idea for a dedicated senior study centre was first hatched.
