Applications for the winter round of council’s In2Sport program are now open.
The program allows children aged six to 18 years to apply for up to $200 financial assistance (up to 75 per cent of the membership cost) to contribute to club membership fees at participating Brimbank sports clubs.
To be eligible the children must live in Brimbank and have their name listed on a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card.
Brimbank mayor Lucinda Congreve said the popular program had helped hundred of people get into physical activity across Brimbank
“In2Sport has been hugely successful since being introduced in 2013. We’ve supported more than 1500 young people to get involved in local sport over the years, and we want to continue to do so,” Cr Congreve said.
“Being physically active is so important. Not only does it help you to stay fit and healthy, but it also helps with creating connections in the community, and it’s great for mental health as well.
“I encourage all families out there with kids who want to join a local sports club – and who meet the In2Sport criteria – to apply.”
There is currently a priority application period for females, first-time applicants, and people with disability, with all other applications open from February 18.
This round of applications is for winter and year-round sports, including soccer, AFL, rugby union and tennis.
