An 11-year-old Keilor East boy is rocking out on an international stage.
Brendan Rutledge is currently playing a lead role in the South Korean season of School of Rock.
Rutledge plays guitarist Zack Mooneyham in the Andrew Lloyd Webber production and said it’s been a whirlwind experience.
“For six weeks before opening night we started learning and rehearsing the show scene by scene,” he said. “Now that the show is on we do rehearsals for polishing scenes and making sure everything is the best it can be.
“Before shows we will always have a band warm-up which is a lot of fun.”
Rutledge initially auditioned to be part of the Melbourne season and thought his chance might’ve passed when he narrowly missed out on the role.
“I originally auditioned for the Melbourne season of School of Rock but just missed out, but earlier this year I was contacted to see if I was interested in the Korea and Sydney seasons, so I sent in a video audition.
“I’m really excited to have been offered the same role for the Sydney season too, which starts in November.
“It’s been fun to see fans come and see us at the stage door after a show and send us messages on social media too.”
