Keilor East dad wins $1.6 million

A Keilor East father took home a staggering $1.6 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The merry Melburnian held one of the four division one winning entries drawn Saturday, June 28, scoring $1,629,922.69.

After winning the money, the man said he “spent the whole night awake, questioning whether it was real or if I was dreaming.”

“I first asked my wife if I was looking at a win of $1600 or $16,000. That’s when she confirmed I was in fact looking at $1.6 million,” he said.

Despite his dazed state, the man still turned up to work on Monday.

“…it’s been a struggle to stay focused in my meetings,” he said when an official from The Lott called to confirm the news.

When asked what he’d do with the winnings the Keilor East local said he’d “definitely help the kids out.”

“I can help set them up with a house deposit. Then I’ll put the rest aside.”

His winning entry was purchased at a lottery retailer at Centreway shopping centre in Keilor East.

Owner of the retailer, Anj Bahl, said she was shocked to hear her outlet had sold its first ever division one winning entry since taking over ownership.

“I was having morning tea when I read the email that our outlet had sold a division one winning entry, and I couldn’t stop reading it over and over again!” she said.

“There is a bit of history about Centreway Shopping Centre as JB Hi Fi first started here. We always talk about putting Centreway back on news and this feels like we’ve achieved it,” she said.
