With a chuckle, Adrian Robson says he has always been big-boned. But he wasn’t laughing when he was looking in the mirror at his 153-kilogram frame after returning home from a trip to Bali.
“I came back and looked in the mirror and thought ‘holy crap’,” he says. “I was at my limit.”
That was in January.
At the time the Keilor Downs plumber decided he and his dad would finally do something about their expanding waistlines.
So they both signed up to weight loss program Jenny Craig, and they began swimming and rock climbing.
“It was a bit of a ‘who can beat who’,” he says.
Whether it was the competitive factor or Mr Robson’s newfound love of rock climbing, but his weight dropped. In just 28 weeks he lost 47 kilograms. He now rock climbs four times a week, goes to the gym every second day and swims laps at the weekend.
Now the 27-year-old has set his sights on climbing a frozen waterfall in Japan with some friends at the end of the year.
“I figured, I’m going to give this a really good crack, and I haven’t looked back,” he says.
