Jumanji screening to raise funds for bushfire relief

Sunshine’s Kevin Wheelahan Gardens will turn into a cinema for one night only in a bid to raise extra funds for bushfire relief.

This Sunday the Brimbank Council is inviting the community to bring the family along to the screening, which will feature the 1995 classic Jumanji.

Entry to the movie will be by cash donation.

Brimbank mayor Georgina Papafotiou said the fundraiser is another way Brimbank was supporting the communities devastated by the ongoing fires in the east of the state.

“We’re trying to do what we can to assist, and fundraising for bushfire relief is one of our top priorities at this point,” Cr Papafotiou said.

“I hope our community takes up this opportunity to support a very worthy cause and enjoy an absolutely classic movie at the same time.

The event will run from 6-9pm, with the movie scheduled to start at 7pm.

It will be screened in a marquee at the gardens that seats approximately 400 and barbecue food and drink will be available for purchase.

Attendees are also welcome to bring their own refreshments.

All donations or purchases need to be cash only and all money raised will go to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund.
