Students from six school choirs will join voices for a spectacular event this Thursday.

The Sacred Music Choral Festival will be held at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College in Braybrook and will feature neighbouring schools Thomas Carr, Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs, Marian College Sunshine and Mount Saint Joseph Girls College.

More than 200 tickets have been sold for the event and Caroline Chisholm Catholic College director of music Matthew Lorentzen said he’s hoping for a sellout.

“Our auditorium seats about 800 people and with six schools participating, we see no reason why we can’t sell them all,” he said.

“We’ll be performing three group numbers [every school together] and then each school will sing a couple of songs individually,” he said.

“It’s all religious music, but there’s a variety of different music, from classical all the way up to more modern hillside kind of thing.”

Mr Lorentzen said preparations for the event have been ongoing for six months.

“We started rehearsals back in October with all the schools together for the first rehearsal.

“Some kids do it every year, so they got to see their friends and people from previous years.”

With just days left before the performance, Mr Lorentzen said excitement was fever pitch.

“Everyone just wants to do the best job they can.”
