“It was one of those ‘why not’ moments” : Sunshine West man’s canny purchase pays off

A canny decision to drive across the city to buy a TattsLotto ticket has paid the ultimate dividends for Sunshine West’s newest millionaire.

The lucky man is $1.9 million richer after winning division one of TattsLotto on Saturday night.

The man in his 30s said he bought his Superdraw ticket at Target Lotto in Hoppers Crossing because of its long list of recent division one winners.

The shop has sold six division one winning tickets since March 2014 – more than $8.4 million paid out – and 32 over the past two decades.

“I’ve been playing TattsLotto for a little while but for the Superdraw I went to Hoppers Crossing because I saw a news story that they’d sold quite a few division one winning tickets,” the man said.

“It’s a bit of a hike from my place but I thought ‘oh well, I’ll give there a try.”

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was feeling “unbelievable” after being one of eleven division one winners in the $21m draw.

“Normally I just get a standard QuickPick but this time, I thought I might try a System 7,” he said.

“It was one of those ‘why not’ moments.

“It’s just crazy. I had a sleepless night last night – normally I sleep like a log, but my stomach was doing flips.

“I’ll get to do a bit of travel, I haven’t done much at all since I’m usually not very adventurous, but I’ll have to go see more of the world now.

“But I’ve mostly been thinking about what I can do for my mum and dad rather than what I can do for myself.

“I’m trying to come up with a fun way I can deliver the big surprise to them – I can’t wait to tell them!

“It probably won’t really hit me until I see it in the bank!”

The winning numbers were 40, 32, 36, 23, 28 and 7, with the supplementary numbers 39 and 41.
