Students from Wyndham Central College in Werribee will showcase their Pasifika culture at a concert this weekend.
The My Island Dream (MID2018) performance will be held in Sunshine North on Saturday, September 22.
Ten schools from the northern and western suburbs, including Tarneit P-9 College and The Grange P-12 College, will participate in the show, which will feature singing, dancing and acting.
The annual My Island Dream production is Melbourne’s biggest Pasifika event for schools, and aims to bring together students to celebrate their culture.
The event was started in 2016 by the Westside Pasifika Youth Committee, Brimbank council and Vaiusu the Creators Space.
It features students whose families come from Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Tahiti, Hawaii, Aotearoa, Niue and Tuvalu.
Event director and Vaiusu owner Fipe Preuss said My Island Dream helped youths honour their identity, connection and community pride.
“The youth have been working really hard within the schools and showing great leadership,” she said.
