Harmony day went beyond the teachers and students at St Albans Heights Primary School on Wednesday.
This year for Harmony Day the school invited the students families to our annual Harmony Day Welcome B.B.Q.
School community liaison officer Leanne Etemovic and community hub leader Dannielle Tomlinson said It is an opportunity for our families to meet the staff at the school and get to know other families that make up our diverse school community.
“Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home,” they said.
“Our family’s got to experience each other’s cultures, enjoyed Henna, experienced AFL [football] and made badges and art displays to show their solidarity that followed this year’s theme of “everyone belongs.”
“We also invited families to come dressed in their cultural dress or orange, to showcase our dynamic multicultural community that we, here at S.A.H.P.S, are very proud of.
“The feedback was very positive, families had a lovely afternoon, connecting with each other, different cultures and the school….. which was the point of the afternoon.”
