Graduated students of Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, and its three predecessor schools – Christ the King College, St John’s College and Chisholm College – will receive a warm welcome back at a reunion night on November 10.
Marco DiCesare, Principal of Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, speaks warmly of returning alumni:
“Our alumni community grows each year and it’s important we continue to celebrate their contributions, as well as share what we’ve been up to.
“It’s certainly been another busy first half of the year and we look forward to welcoming many of our graduates back for our 2017 alumni reunion evening. This year, we celebrate the graduating classes of 1977, 1987, 1997 and 2007.
“As alumni, they are all an integral part of our history and community and the values we live out daily.
“It is the many individuals we engage with, including students, parents, teachers and staff, who make us leaders in learning excellence.
“Our College is a great example of how time changes everything. We have had enormous change in the past few years. While the physical changes have been obvious and welcomed, I am especially proud of the work our community has undertaken to create, instil and promote our College values of Faith, Acceptance, Compassion and Excellence (FACE).”
Recently, a timeline of the College’s history, from the arrival of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and the 1997 amalgamation through to the present day, was erected. Alumni will have a chance to visit this as part of the tour on the reunion evening.
A great deal of work has happened around the College in the area of beautification and articulation of the College’s values.
“Caroline Chisholm Medal honour boards, acknowledging all recipients of this award over the years, have been installed at the 204 Churchill Avenue site.
“We have completed an amazing upgrade of our Sacred Heart and St John’s cafeteria, creating a homey urban feel. Christ the King also undertook a major overhaul of its front entrance and administration area.
“Work on the new double-storey performing arts centre started in term one this year. The building replaces the Madeleine Centre convent and chapel with more than 1400 square metres of state-of-art space.”
In other news, the College will welcome to its annual Evening of Excellence on November 28, guest speaker Sergeant Wayne Gatt, who is Secretary of the Victoria Police Association and college alumnus from 1992.
