Recycling saga

Brimbank council is in discussions with Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group and SKM about recovering the cost of sending recyclables to landfill. During SKM Services’ temporary closure, 935 tonnes of recyclable material from Brimbank was diverted to landfill at an estimated cost of about $55,000.

Lucky night

A St Albans man has won Oz Lotto’s division one prize … twice. Officials called the man last week to let him know he had one of three winning tickets, however he realised he’d purchased a second ticket, so pocketed more than $46 million.

Hit and run

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a ute at a hoon gathering in Derrimut last week. The man, who is in his 20s, was hit by a white VE or VZ ute in Australis Drive last Wednesday night. Police are investigating.
