NAIDOC celebrations

The theme of NAIDOC Week (July 8-15) is ‘Because of her, we can!’ – to highlight the contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made to communities. Brimbank’s celebration will be held from 11am-12.30pm on Thursday, July 12 and will include a smoking ceremony and welcome to country, followed by a flag raising.

 

Deer Park robbery

Police have released footage of a man they are searching for following an armed robbery in Deer Park. The man entered the Neale Road shopping centre about 1.20pm on Thursday, June 7. He walked into a post office and produced a firearm, demanding cash. He was given a quantity of money and then left. He is believed to be of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, about 175cm tall with a medium build and was wearing a dark hooded jumper and pants, with a black bandanna covering his face. Royal lecture
