Fatal fire

A 37-year-old man died following a house fire in Strickland Crescent, Burnside, on Saturday. Police and emergency services responded to the blaze, believed to have started around midday. The three other occupants of the house were taken to hospital as a precaution. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is being investigated.

 

Airport rail boost

An airport rail service with a stop in Sunshine received further support last week. Melbourne Airport parking and ground access head Lorie Argus threw her support behind the Sunshine option, saying it was the most sensible because it has access to regional Victoria and the west, where the major growth is occurring.

 

Recycling right

Brimbank council is encouraging community members to support the Brimbank Recycling Right Gems campaign. The campaign is aimed at improving how the community recycles and reducing contamination from kerbside recycling. The program will include kerbside recycling bin inspections in locations across Brimbank until August.
