A shipping container leaking herbicide has resulted in Hunter Road, Derrimut being closed this morning.
Fire Rescue Victoria were called to a container storage yard on Hunter Road about 3.30am today.
When they arrived staff had isolated the container and covered it with absorbent.
FRV crews evacuated the five staff on the premises as well as surrounding warehouses as a precaution.
Hunter Road has been closed with exclusion zones 25 metre upwind and 250 metre downwind in place.
Specialist FRV Hazardous Material technicians are on scene to deal with the chemical leak and monitor the atmosphere surrounding the container yard.
