Drug-driver bound for court
A Sydenham man was clocked travelling nearly 50 kilometres an hour over the speed limit on the Old Calder Highway last Tuesday night during speed checks at Keilor. The 25-year-old, who was detected at 108km/h in a 60km/h zone, also tested positive for drugs. The car, belonging to the man’s girlfriend, was impounded for 30 days and the man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date for unlicensed driving, drug driving, excessive speed and other traffic offences
Rookie driver in trouble
An L-plate driver from Keilor Downs has lost her permit for 12 months after being busted for drink-driving in Hoppers Crossing earlier this month. The 23-year-old, who did not have her learner plates displayed, was caught during Operation Speakeasy at Hoppers Crossing and Werribee and will face court at a later date after blowing 0.154 per cent. Her passenger, who returned a reading of 0.122 per cent, had her license suspended for 12 months and copped a $645 fine.
Drivers lose vehicles
Two drivers had their vehicles impounded after testing positive for drugs during two separate incidents the same night in Sunshine North recently. Both men will face court at a later date.
