A new mural is gracing the wall of the Sydenham Memorial to further recognise the men and women who have served their country.

The mural, located at the Watergardens Town Centre, depicts the men and women from the Sydenham district who served their country, surrounded by vivid red poppy flowers.

It was painted by Brimbank artist, Heesco, who is a Mongolian-Australian muralist and fine artist.

Heesco is currently Australia’s most prolific silo artist to-date with five silos and a water tower to his name, and his prized works featured in publications around the world.

Brimbank council along with locals attended the mural for Remembrance Day last week.

Mayor Ranka Rasic said this was the latest piece in the council’s large range of public art.

“The mural was painted by local Brimbank artist Heesco in honour of the men and women from the Sydenham district who left their homes to serve their country.

“Many of these locals came from the early farms of the Sydenham area, which is depicted in the background of the painting.

“I’m pleased that the mural is complete in time for Remembrance Day.

“I hope you can come and enjoy this beautiful mural and its surroundings soon, as a place to reflect and find comfort in the bravery of those gone before us.”
