Hillside man charged after Melbourne protests

A Hillside man has been charged following an ongoing investigation into a series of assaults on police officers and criminal damage following recent protests in Melbourne.

Prime Taskforce has been established to investigate criminal offences committed at recent protests in Melbourne.

Detectives executed a warrant in Hillside on Monday and arrested a 47-year-old man.

He was charged with two counts of riotous behaviour, two counts of affray, assault police, criminal damage, two counts of discharging a missile, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.

He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court next week.

The man was arrested as part of Prime Taskforce which has been established to investigate criminal offences committed at recent protests in Melbourne.

Detectives have been told projectiles, including glass bottles, were thrown at police officers on September 22 at the Shrine of Remembrance.
