Celebrations are in order for two of St Albans Secondary College students’ high achievers, after the VCE results were released on December 11.
Top of the class was college DUX Kathleen Phan who achieved St Albans Secondary College’s highest ATAR of 97.85.
Senior sub school leader Marlene Cassar said Kathleen was able to ‘beautifully’ balance her commitments in her leadership role at the school as well as with her academic studies.
“As a school, we are incredibly proud of our students. Our students were just incredible this year and it was a pleasure for our staff to both coordinate and teach them,” she said.
Ms Cassar said behind every students’ result is a unique story, each deserving of its own acknowledgement.
“It was great to see some of the kids overcoming some of their own challenges and overcoming barriers. In the end they came in strong and we are proud of what we’ve been able to achieve as a school and we will continue our commitment to high quality education,” she said.
Ms Cassar said the college had a median study score of 31, consistent with the year before. However for year 12 student Kelly, it was a perfect study score of 50 for both subjects of Biology and General Maths.
“This year’s cohort worked really consistently and they were connected as a group. They all looked after each other’s well being and also encouraged each other to succeed academically,” Ms Cassar said.
The college has 18 students achieving an ATAR in the 90s range, and 27 in the 80s range, with the college recording a median ATAR of 75.05.
