One of Brimbank’s oldest residents celebrated her 100th birthday a few days early last weekend with a celebration at Overton Lea Nursing Home in Sydenham.
Born in the central Victorian town of Charlton on December 16, 1915, Molly Mullins ran her own dressmaking business before eventually moving to Moonee Ponds, where she and husband Dan had three children.
She moved to Sydenham two years ago. Molly, a proud Probus and Essendon Football Club member, was a keen golfer and bowler in her younger days.
She received letters from the Queen and the Prime Minister to commemorate her grand achievement and celebrated it with her three grand-daughters, three grandsons, two great grand-daughters and five great grandsons.
