Buy a Christmas tree next month and help keep local kids with a disability dancing and camping.
That’s the message from Caroline Springs Rotary’s Wendy Gadsby, with the new group hoping to raise more than $7000 through the sale of Christmas trees.
With less than a month before Santa arrives, it’s the perfect time to grab a tree, with every cent going back to two key community projects – a dance program for children with a disability, called Busy Feet, and Camp Getaway for the Melton Specialist School.
“Last year, we sold 35 trees, not bad since we only chartered, or became official, in August 2015 – and we really were just starting to get into the swing of things by Christmas,” Ms Gadsby said. “This year we’d love to triple that, if we can. Last year, funds raised went towards two of our club projects.
“[Camp Getaway’s] a free camp to these children, many of whom had never been away from family or home, and it’s a respite for a few days for their families.”
The trees will be available for delivery every weekend in December leading up to Christmas.
“The earlier you book in, the better your chance of early delivery,” Ms Gadsby said.
