Goals will mean more than helping secure wins for Western United this season.
The A-League club in partnership with the Happsa Group and Foodbank Victoria to help feed thousands of people in need across Victoria.
The Goals to Fight Hunger initiative will see $200 donated by the Happsa Group to Foodbank Victoria for every goal scored by Western United throughout the A-League season.
Every goal kicked throughout the season creates 400 meals for vulnerable Victorians.
The 2021 Foodbank Hunger report showed one in six adults in Victoria haven’t had enough to eat in the last year.
United chief executive Chris Pehlivanis said this is a great initiative.
“It’s great to see the Western United family bring two partners together to achieve mutual outcomes.
“Now the goals we will score on the field will have even more meaning and I’m sure the Goals to Fight Hunger campaign will motivate our players even more.”
Foodbank Victoria chief executive Dave McNamara said they were incredibly grateful for the support they are receiving.
“Despite lockdowns ending, we continue to see Victorians impacted by the pandemic, with so many people still seeking help who have never needed it before.
“We would like to thank both Happsa and Western United for this generous initiative,” “Fans can keep track of Happsa’s donations via Western United social media accounts.”
