Glow exhibition has light touches

Mars Gallery art conultant Amanda Camp at the CS Gallery. The exhibtion "Glow" will open on the 16th of September.

Australian artist Jason Sims uses light to explore the space between reality and illusion … literally and metaphorically.

His work, using bold geometric sculptures to create playful optical illusions, will be featured at CS Gallery for the next fortnight alongside works by David Burrows, Aly Indermuhle, Giles Ryder and Tricky Walsh.

All five work with light, but in very different ways. Burrows blurs the lines between reality and illusion using stereoscopic boxes, while Indermuhle’s light sculptures draw attention to the “luminous”.

Ryder’s work involves balancing playfulness with preciousness, and Walsh uses architecture as an analogy for the complexities of various methods of communication.

Melton council chief executive Kel Tori said the exhibition was an opportunity for residents to see the work of renowned Australian artists.

“Melton City Council is committed to increasing awareness of the incredible diversity and value of arts and cultural experiences in our community,” he said. “This exhibition is a rich example of this.”

The Glow exhibition will light up the gallery, at 193 Caroline Springs Boulevard, until 5pm, on Friday, October 7. Details: 9747 5300
