Gift success in the fast lane

About 1500 athletics fans turned out on Saturday to watch St Albans’ premier foot race. The annual St Albans Gift at Kings Park Reserve, a combined effort of St Albans Sports Club and St Albans Football and Cricket clubs, featured hotly contested events with nearly $11,000 in prize money up for grabs. Liam Procaccino took out the main race. Gift spokesperson Momo Srasuchat said the official Victorian Athletics League event, featuring 11 races over varied distances for both male and female athletes, was getting more popular each year. “There were lots of people on the day – a lot more than last year,” she said. The inaugural St Albans Gift was held on February 7, 2009.
